If you haven't already noticed, we love a good maxi skirt over here at Dainty Hooligan headquarters! With summer coming, we know all to well that the maxi skirt will be a go-to staple of yours for those warmer days. Without further ado, here are 5 different ways to style that maxi skirt!
1. Keep it easy-breezy with a loose fitting tank or knotted basic tee.
2. Play with proportions. With all the volume in your skirt, keep your top micro with a cute bralette or bandeau. This look would work really great with a bikini top when you're poolside as well.
3. Dress it up with a blazer and your favorite power bag. A solid color as opposed to a print would probably work best for this look and make your maxi skirt work appropriate.
4. Pair it with your favorite cropped top. We know you have at least one cropped top since this trend is kind of a huge one at the moment. Pull that maxi up a few inches to your true waist, throw on your favorite cropped top and you'll keep looking on trend all summer long.
5. Throw on a chambray or denim button-up. Tucked in or worn open and unbuttoned, this look can go from beach side to dinner date in a few simple adjustments.
Things to keep in mind:
- Try tucking it in! Whether it's a tee or a button-up the tucked in look offers up a chic edge.
- Accessorize with a belt, long and layered strands of necklaces, and your favorite pair of
sunnies.
- Sandals and wedges are ideal for this look, just keep your toes exposed to keep things on the casual
side.

When I think of Easter I think of bunnies, girly dresses, and florals. When I think of Alice In Wonderland, I pretty much think of the same things! In our latest lookbook, we combined these two different worlds to showcase some of our favorite spring looks. We had a lot of fun with the shoot and here are some of my favorite outtakes.

Print Mixing: Some Basic Tips
Subtle or bold, give print mixing a try with these tips
- Mix prints based on scale. If you do a larger print on top pair it with a smaller scaled print on the bottom
- Give pattern mixing a subdued effort by mixing a subtle stripe or other print with a bold print to give your look the right amount of contrast
- Feeling brave? Floral on floral can be a bold and stylish statement if done correctly based on the color and scale of the prints you're working with
- Finding a common color among your patterns is a great way to tie the two otherwise varying prints into one great look
- Pattern mixing can even be achieved in a chic way with smaller details such as your accessories. A leopard print belt or bag set against a navy and white polka dot top would be a great way to ease you into becoming the mix master you wanna be!
With all these lush floral and pastel prints coming out for spring, pattern mixing is something every girl should try at least once. Will you give it a try this season?
