Dainty Hooligan Summer Report: Top 5 Ways To Get A Tan
Ah yes, summer is here in full force! A habit I'm sure a lot of us are used to getting into this time of year is tanning. While we love a good bronzed bod ourselves, we began to wonder what the benefits and risks of various ways of tanning can be. It's true, attaining that tan in any aspect without enough self control can be dangerous to your health. But remember, all things in moderation! Here is a list of pros and cons of some of the ways to get that summer glow.
Pros: Exposing yourself to the sun like this is a great way to get that tan naturally and produce some much needed vitamin D.
Cons: The only real con to this way of tanning can occur if you don't apply any SPF to avoid the risk of skin cancer. A recommended one hour of tanning this way is recommend as well to avoid over exposure to the sun.
2. Spray Tanning. Spray tanning involves standing in a booth while someone sprays a fine mist on all over you until your a shade or two darker.
Pros: It's a time saver! Most people love how quick and easy this process of getting a tan can be. Others like how even and mess free the tan can look as opposed to over the counter creams and lotions.
Cons: Spray tanning can be relatively expensive, per tan. Also it is not a FDA approved process and may cause damage to your body if ingested through the nose and mouth.
3. Lotions and Creams. You've seen or tried those over the counter products, I'm sure!
Pros: Buying a tan in a tube can be inexpensive and UV free since you're not required to spend time in the sun.
Cons: It can be a mess and leave your tan looking uneven and streaky. To help in avoiding this, make sure you exfoliate and get rid of dead skin cells ahead of time.
4. Tanning pills. Just don't! These pills contain a chemical dye that can turn your skin orange and damage your liver over time. It's not worth the risk!
5. Tanning Beds. The good ol' fake'n'bake.
Pros: Since tanning beds are basically simulating the sun via UV lights, a benefit of tanning beds can be that they help your body produce vitamin D.
Cons: Tanning beds are linked to an increase of skin and eye cancer rates in the US. Using tanning beds before the age of 30 increases your risk of developing skin cancer by 75%. Bake in the bed at your own risk!
So there you have it! Protect yourself, read labels, read more information online, and be smart while you get beautifully darker!

Dainty Hooligan Holiday Guide: Happy 4th Of July!
The 4th of July is coming upon us and we're getting ready for a great fun filled weekend over here! I've rounded up some great tips to make the best of your coming holiday weekend.
One of the first things I think about when it comes to the 4th of July is FOOD! If you're invited to a block party or family gathering and aren't sure what to bring, let me recommend taking Ina Garten's recipe for French Potato Salad. The great thing about this recipe is that it's made without mayonnaise and will definitely be different from any kind of potato based concoction any one else might bring. Take a look at the ingredients and you'll know what I mean!
Show your American pride with these super creative summer ice pop cakes over at studiodiy.com. Imagine serving these cuties up at your family BBQ!
Fireworks are obviously an amazing part of this great holiday and one of my favorite things about it. Here are some awesome tips on how to take some pretty amazing pics of you and your friends writing with sparklers. The results would be Instagram worthy for sure!
Lastly, what are you going to wear this 4th of July?!? We have some great summer looks for you from maxi dresses to cover ups, but we also have some really cute red, white, and blues for you to choose from too! So take a quick trip on over to Dainty Hooligan to place your order on one of our patriotic pieces before this great American holiday is here! Have a happy and safe fourth!

Dainty Hooligan Styling Fun: 5 Ways to Style That Maxi Skirt!
If you haven't already noticed, we love a good maxi skirt over here at Dainty Hooligan headquarters! With summer coming, we know all to well that the maxi skirt will be a go-to staple of yours for those warmer days. Without further ado, here are 5 different ways to style that maxi skirt!
1. Keep it easy-breezy with a loose fitting tank or knotted basic tee.
2. Play with proportions. With all the volume in your skirt, keep your top micro with a cute bralette or bandeau. This look would work really great with a bikini top when you're poolside as well.
3. Dress it up with a blazer and your favorite power bag. A solid color as opposed to a print would probably work best for this look and make your maxi skirt work appropriate.
4. Pair it with your favorite cropped top. We know you have at least one cropped top since this trend is kind of a huge one at the moment. Pull that maxi up a few inches to your true waist, throw on your favorite cropped top and you'll keep looking on trend all summer long.
5. Throw on a chambray or denim button-up. Tucked in or worn open and unbuttoned, this look can go from beach side to dinner date in a few simple adjustments.
Things to keep in mind:
- Try tucking it in! Whether it's a tee or a button-up the tucked in look offers up a chic edge.
- Accessorize with a belt, long and layered strands of necklaces, and your favorite pair of
sunnies.
- Sandals and wedges are ideal for this look, just keep your toes exposed to keep things on the casual
side.

Disney Princesses, Zombies, Learn How to Strike A Pose and More!
The Cannes Film Festival took place recently and as usual the red carpet was transformed into a celeb filled couture catwalk. Our favorite look? Blake Lively in Gucci; drop dead gorgeous, right?!? Our least favorite look? Julianne Moore in a strange color blocked look by Louis Vuitton.

In some movie news, Disney seems to be on a roll turing their most classic of animated films into live action movies and Cinderella is slated to be the next title to get that treatment. They released a teaser tailer and poster for the film and announced actress Lily James as Cinderella and Cate Blanchett as the evil step mother. We're pretty stoked, especially with nearly flawless Cate Blanchett playing such a devious role! (Just Jared)
Speaking of Disney, Seventeen Magazine posted these adorable pics of Disney pictures dressed as your average teenage high schooler. Tres cute, if we do say so our selves! (Seventeen)
Do you have your zombie apocalypse kit ready? In some interesting but random news, the U.S. Government is supposedly well prepared for any zombie attack that might ever occur. According to MTV.com, the latest defense for a zombie attack called CONPLAN 8888 also known as “Counter-Zombie Dominance,” was made unclassified recently and it's surreal to say the least. Did you know zombie chickens where a real thing? Check MTV.com for a list of the 11 things the government is prepared to do incase of a zombie apocalypse.

WWCBD?
Style icon character Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City will always be remembered for her fun, eclectic and highly copied sense of style. Combining contemporary and vintage pieces, you either loved her look or cringed at the combination of clothing. Either way, the aesthetics always inspired in someway. When we received the Black & White Lace Trim Candice Dress, Carrie Bradshaw popped into my head right away. Put together with the right pieces, we think we created a cohesive yet quirky enough look that would make our favorite New Yorker proud!
